Azure Blob storage is Microsoft's object storage solution for the cloud. Blob storage optimization is used to store large amounts of unstructured data. Unstructured data is data that does not follow a specific data model or definition, such as text or binary data.

About Blob Stora

Blob storage is designed to:

Provide images or documents directly to the browser.

Stores files for distributed access.

Streaming video and audio.

Write to the log file.

Store backup and restore, disaster recovery and archived data.

Stores data for analysis by internal deployment or Azure managed services.

Blob storage resourc

Blob storage provides three types of resources:

The storage account.

A container is storing the account

Blob in the container

The following figure shows the relationship between these resources.

A storage account can contain an unlimited number of containers, and a container can store an unlimited number of Blob. (container name must be lowercase)

Azure storage supports three types of Blob:

Block Blob stores text and binary data, up to about 4.7 TB. Block Blob consists of blocks that can be managed separately.

Like block Blob, append Blob is made up of blocks, but is optimized for append operations. Appending Blob is ideal for scenarios such as recording data from virtual machines.

The page Blob is used to store random access files up to 8 TB. The page Blob stores virtual hard disk (VHD) files as disks for the Azure virtual machine.
