Since the current generation of consoles remains difficult to obtain, game streaming services have become very popular even a year after launch. For just a few dollars a month, we can transfer a select library of games to our laptops, desktops and mobile devices.

With the recent release of Raspberry Pi OS based on Debian 11 "Bullseye," we found that Chromium web browser now supports hardware acceleration, which means we can finally use streaming gaming services on Raspberry Pi 4.

In this guide, we'll set up a brand new Raspberry Pi OS Bullseye installation, overclock the Raspberry Pi 4 to 2 GHz, and finally we'll automate the process to turn our Raspberry Pi into a 1080p gaming console.

For this project, you need

Raspberry Pi 4 4GB

16GB Micro SD Card

Keyboard, mouse and 1080p screen for Raspberry Pi

Ethernet connection

Cool your Raspberry Pi 4. We use Pimoroni fan pads, but preferably passive cooling.
