Shulou(Shulou.com)06/02 Report--
The Linux kernel is receiving support for HyperBus, a high-performance DDR bus interface for connecting processors / controllers / ASIC to "HyperFlash" flash memory or "HyperRAM" DRAM.
HyperBus is a specification developed by Cypress Semiconductor Cypress Semiconductor for high-speed, low-pin memory products. It is mainly used in industrial / Internet of things / automotive products to connect controllers to memory and other peripherals with only 12 pins. Compared with competitive solutions, HyperBus has 70% fewer pins and 77% less footprint.
So far, the mainline Linux kernel does not support Cypress HyperBus, but initial kernel patches have been issued to seek comments on the new support framework. So far, the tests have been carried out with the hardware support of Texas Instruments. Meanwhile, Cypress maintains its own Linux driver for HyperBus/HyperFlash products.
For those who want to know more about HyperBus kernel growth, you can see this patch series. Anyone who wants to know about the HyperBus specification can check out Cypress Semiconductor.
