SNMP:

The goal of SNMP is to manage the software and hardware platforms produced by many manufacturers on the Internet Internet.

Concept: the simple Network Management Protocol consists of a set of network management standards, including an application layer protocol, a database model, and a set of data objects. It is used to detect whether the device connected to the network is abnormal.

Management information base: a database of management objects accessed by SNMP, which includes variables that SNMP can set through the SNMP management agent of a network device.

Using SNMP for network management and gateway requires the following important parts: management base station, management agent, management information base and network management tools.

How the network management protocol works:

SNMP uses agent software embedded in network facilities to collect network communication information and statistics about network devices. The agent software constantly collects statistical information and records it into MIB, which can be obtained by sending query signals to the MIB of the agent. This process is called polling.

In order to have a comprehensive view of the traffic and rate of change of the day, managers must constantly poll the SNMP agent every minute.

By moving SNMP into data communication devices, such as switches and routers, these devices can be managed from a central location.

A managed device has a management agent, which is responsible for requesting information and actions from the management station, and the agent can also actively provide information to the management station with the help of traps. Therefore, some key network devices (routers, switches) provide this management agent, also known as the SNMP agent.

My own questions:

The router switch is the hardware, and there must be an operating system on the hardware to drive the hardware. There is an operating system, vxworks, or arm-linux or a system developed by the manufacturer on the router, switch, and firewall. The operating system is responsible for driving the hardware, and there is also CPU and memory, information on the router.

Now I want to log in to the router and switch, the web page must be configured with only a WEB service on the operating system, I now want to log in to this switch through the telnet service, this machine needs to turn on the telnet service.

Our program, which wants to get the routing table, etc., needs: first, the SNMP service is enabled on this machine.
