MHA is a set of excellent high availability software for failover and master-slave upgrade in MySQL high availability environment, which is developed by youshimaton (now works for Facebook company) of Japanese MySQL company.

Advantages:

Open source tools developed by the perl language

Can support GTID-based replication mode

MHA provides master-slave handover and failover functions, so it is not easy to cause data loss during failover.

When the master DB is not available, a new master DB server is elected from multiple slave servers

Multiple clusters can be monitored by the same monitoring node

Disadvantages:

Need to write scripts or use third-party tools (such as keepalived) to implement the configuration of VIP

MHA startup will only monitor the primary database

Need to be based on SSH authentication-free configuration, there are security risks

There is no read load balancing function from the server.

Can only monitor the availability of the master server, not the slave server

The application saves binary logs from the original master DBA server

Promote the alternate primary DB server to the new primary DB server

Migrate the other slave DB in the cluster as the slave server of the new master DB
