Because of novel coronavirus's problems around the world, many people work from home, and users, including government officials, are more dependent on PC than ever before. As a result, Microsoft announced that it would no longer release an optional update for Windows 10 from May 2020.

Microsoft is suspending optional updates for Windows 10 to avoid affecting the devices on which it is installed. The aim is to reduce the problems and difficulties faced by people who rely on PC.

However, it is not clear whether Microsoft will stop making non-security fixes or whether it will be bundled with the "Tuesday of every month" version. In subsequent tweets, Microsoft has confirmed that only optional updates have been suspended and that users will still receive non-security fixes on the second Tuesday of each month.

Microsoft said: "monthly Windows updates will continue to accumulate through security and non-security fixes and are committed to protecting our customers and increasing their productivity by giving priority to security fixes."

For daily users of IT Home, this means that Microsoft will still release non-security improvements and security fixes for Windows 10 on the second Tuesday of each month. Microsoft will keep optional updates, called C and D updates, released in the third and fourth weeks, respectively.

These optional updates for Windows 10 are released to test patches with interested users before making changes available to all consumers and businesses.

This applies to all supported versions of Windows 10 and the server. Microsoft has made it clear that patches, non-security and security updates will still be available on Tuesday, but it is not clear whether these updates will include a long list of improvements or patches.

The next Tuesday patch update for Windows 10 v1909 and 1809 will take place on April 14. In May, the first release is expected on May 12, with improvements to security and non-security.
