In September, we reported that Microsoft intends to introduce a new version of Edge to Linux, and the Edge team produced a questionnaire about respondents' preferences for Linux distributions, scenarios and needs for using Web browsers on Linux, and so on. At the time, it was speculated that Microsoft had an intention to introduce Edge browser to Linux, but given that the public testing of the new browser is still in its infancy, there are many uncertainties, and Microsoft officials have not made a definite statement.

However, at the recent Ignite 2019 conference, Microsoft officially announced that Edgefor Linux will be released soon. Zac Bowden, the central senior editor of Windows, posted photos of the presentation on Twitter. According to Microsoft, the new Edge is completely cross-platform, and the browser will support the Windows platform, including servers and clients, as well as MacOS, Android, IOS and Linux.

As for the specific release timeline, it has not been disclosed. The Edge team rarely releases details of the browser's release, but at the recent Ignite 2019 conference, they confirmed the release date of the Chromium Edge General Edition, which will be officially released on January 15 next year, and will be available on Windows and MacOS. So I believe Edgefor Linux will be available soon.

Although the Linux version may be available on Canary and Dev channels by then, it will not be as widely available as the ARM64 version.
