First, business scenarios

Due to the demand for promotion, the company will provide some samples to customers free of charge. If there is no charge to the customer, there is no need to issue an invoice, but since it is not income but consumption, the cost of materials paid needs to be recorded to the designated cost center.

SAP's configuration of free orders is mainly reflected in automatic bookkeeping, including the account for recording consumption and the designated cost center.

Second, the solution

In SAP project practice, for free orders, there are the following different technical solutions:

1) if you use SO of type OR and select TANN as the line item type, you can export Billing and then enter COPA. There is sales revenue in the pricing terms and a 100% sales discount.

If the SD voucher category in the order type (VOV8) is set to I free order, you can enter the cost center on the account assignment page of the order header to record the expenses incurred. Only the profit segment, not the cost center, is displayed in the account allocation of the order line item. If account-based profit analysis is activated, the profit segment must be lost here (the system will automatically bring it out and cannot be deleted); if account-based profit analysis is not activated, the cost can be recorded in the cost center set in the header, where the profit section is empty.

2. You can use FD's free delivery SO. At this time, the financial vouchers of sales cost and sales revenue cannot be generated after shipping is posted, because there is no revenue, cost generation, and there will be no PA vouchers.
