Set option

On your server, you need the following FTP related details:

Your website ftp address (if your URL is http://example.com, then the ftp address is usually ftp://example.com)

Your ftp user name

Your ftp password

If you don't already have a FTP account on your server, you can use cPanel or other website management tools to create one-it has all the information you need. If you have any questions about using your FTP account to access web space, please ask your hosting provider for guidance or help.

Click on the file in the upper left corner (File), followed by the site manager (Site Manager)

You need to complete the settings on this screen before we can continue.

Click New site (New Site) and then name the new connection (e.g. my blog server).

Enter the ftp address of your website. If your website URL is http://www.example.com, then the ftp address is usually ftp://ftp.example.com or ftp://example.com. Do not add "/" at the end unless you are asked to do so by cPanel or the hosting provider.

Do not care about this item, that is, the default FTP, the port is also left unattended, that is, 21. Make changes only if your FTP account explicitly tells you so.

Make sure normal (Normal) is selected. (in the newer version, these options have been changed to a drop-down list, and you need to select normal (Normal) in the drop-down list)

Enter the full user name. A user name may be a common form of user name, or it may be in the form of an Email address, that is, user or user@example.com.

Now enter your password here. Pay attention to the case of the password.

Click Save and exit (Save and Exit). (click OK in current versions)

Connect

Click site Manager (Site Manager) in the upper left corner of the screen shown in figure 1, and then the screen shown in figure 3 (FTP details screen) will pop up, then click the connection button at the bottom.

If all goes well, you can see a series of messages at the top of the window shown in figure 1; in the larger window, you can also see a list of files.

Troubleshooting

If there is a problem, it has to be solved! You can check the message that appears at the top of figure 1.

If no connection attempt is made, the ftp address is incorrect. You can't connect as long as you type one character wrong. Click on the red cross to disconnect. Then click site Manager (Site Manager) to check for input errors.

If you are prompted that the user does not exist, check the settings of the site manager and make sure it reflects the FTP account information provided by the host vendor, or use the web server administration interface to re-check the existence of the FTP account. Of course, you can also ask the mainframe supplier for assistance.

If you are prompted with a login error (Incorrect Login), the password is incorrect-as in item 1 above, check your password carefully and be case-sensitive.

If the prompt cannot get the directory list, you may need to modify the advanced connection settings in the site manager to set the passive transfer mode to use passive mode.
