When Outlook receives a new email, a reminder box appears in the lower right corner of the desktop, as shown below:

Recently, in a mail migration project, outlook did not have a new email notification after some users reported that they had received a new email during the implementation.

Below, I would like to share the investigation process with you. I hope you can be helpful. Here are my troubleshooting steps:

Problem description

Using the Outlook client, after the new mail arrives in the mailbox, there is no new mail notification in the notification area in the lower right corner of the desktop.

Troubleshooting steps

Check to see if the new message is in the mailbox's default inbox.

New mail desktop reminders apply only to the inbox of the mailbox itself. If users create some folders themselves and move new mail rules to other folders, they may not be able to receive a Desktop Notification reminder. If you need to have a desktop reminder pop up when new mail arrives in other folders, you can add a client rule of "Show Desktop Notification" when you create a mobile rule:

Confirm that the problem occurs only during the initial synchronization of the mailbox, or when a manual request is sent / received.

If so, as mentioned in the last paragraph of the official document, this behavior is designed.

If the above two situations are not consistent with your question, it is recommended that you click File > options > email, scroll down to the arrival of the message, and make sure that the check box showing the desktop notification is checked:

Take windows 10 as an example:

Step 1: click the Windows start menu, click the settings in the left column, and select system > Notification and Action.

Step 2: find Outlook and confirm that the notification of Outlook is enabled:
