You have been in the company for 5 months, and some of the online servers are under my management. Through the self-built nagios monitoring platform to monitor all our hosts found that: we hosted in the computer room on a physical machine on the virtual machine often appear network instability. For this reason, I have a lot of trouble with the staff in the computer room to help inquire about the network problems, and in the end, the virtual machines come to an end after they are stable. Today, I suddenly think of a problem, that is, although all our virtual machines run independently, the interactive traffic (that is, network traffic) between their virtual network and the outside world (that is, network traffic) enters and flows through a single exit (that is, the same physical network card), so there is obviously a solution to this problem:

When all our virtual machines are in low traffic, the network traffic generated can be borne by the physical network, so the state shown is normal. However, when the business volume of a virtual machine or several virtual machines increases, the network traffic generated by them will reach the peak that the physical network card can withstand, thus causing the network congestion of the whole physical network card. In this case, it will cause network instability of another more than several virtual machines, including network packet loss and delay during ip of ping virtual machines. As a result, the nagios server can not get the data of the virtual machine, resulting in false alarm.

The ideas to solve this problem are as follows:

1. First detect the maximum network traffic of the physical network card of the physical machine.

2. The flow of each virtual network card of the virtual machine is limited by the flow control strategy, so as to avoid the network congestion caused by the high traffic generated by a single virtual network card, thus affecting the normal business of other virtual machines.

Of course, this is not a fundamental solution, because limiting the traffic of the network card is equivalent to queuing up before the business request reaches the server. Therefore, to solve this problem should also be solved from the hardware level: the purchase of gigabit network card
