RDS Services deployment topic: [introduction to RDS Services] (# introduction to RDS Services) introduction to system requirements for deployment of RDS Services

RDS (Remote Desktop Service), which is called "remote Desktop Service" in Chinese, is the former Terminal Service.

RDS services include the following core components:

RDCB-Remote Desktop Connection Broker, remote Desktop connection Agent. RDWA-Remote Desktop Web Access, remote Desktop Web access. RDGW-Remote Desktop Gateway, remote Desktop Gateway. RDVH-Remote Desktop Virtualization Host, remote desktop virtualization host. RDSH-Remote Desktop Session Host, the remote desktop session host. RDLS-Remote Desktop Licensing Server, remote Desktop Licensing Server.

RDCB is responsible for managing incoming remote desktop connections to RDSH collections and controlling connections to RDVH collections and RemoteApp.

RDWA provides users with a single Web portal through which they can access Windows desktops and published applications. With RDWA, you can publish Windows desktops and applications to a variety of Windows and non-Windows client devices, and optionally to specific user groups.

RDGW enables users from the Internet to securely access internal Windows desktops and applications.

RDVH provides personal or pooled Windows desktop hosting service, which allows users to use the VM on it as if they were using a personal computer, providing administrator rights and giving users more freedom.

RDSH provides session-based remote desktops and collections of applications, allowing many users to use the same server at the same time, but users do not have administrative privileges.

RDLS provides remote Desktop connection authorization, which can be per device or per user. A 120-day trial is provided without activating the authorization server. After expiration, clients will not be able to access the remote desktop.

In addition to the above RDS components, according to different deployment models, it will also be applied to SQL Server, File Server, load balancing services, and so on. RDS deployment of the prerequisite, but also the necessary and sufficient condition is-- Active Directory!

System requirements

For the hardware and software requirements of each component server of RDS, please refer to the documentation on Microsoft's official website. I won't repeat it here. Just to emphasize that all servers must join the Windows domain, and all RDVH component servers must have the Hyper-V role installed.

Deployment

The above figure is a typical RDS deployment architecture diagram, please refer to.

The following components are used in the "fun of Cloud" project: RDCB x 2, highly available; RDWA x 2, load balancer; RDGW x 2, load balancer; RDVH x 5 20 VM / per server, a total of 100 VM;RDLS x 1, which is not activated for a period of 120 days. The deployment steps are as follows: first, add all servers

Log in to one of the component servers, open Server Manager, and add all the servers used for RDS deployment.

Second, add roles

Use Server Manager to add RDS roles.

Follow the wizard prompts, add servers for each component in turn, and then click the deploy button.

In the process, the server will restart, we just have to wait. After the deployment of RDCB, RDWA, and RDVH, we also need to deploy RDGW components.

Add a RDGW server

Open Server Manager, navigate to the remote Desktop Services node, and click RD Gateway in Overview to open the add RDGW Server wizard.

Add a RDLS server

Open Server Manager, navigate to the remote Desktop Services node, and click RD Licensing in Overview to open the add RDLS Server wizard.

Select the target server from the server pool, add it to the selected list, and click next.

At this point, the RDS service has been successfully deployed, and then you can create a collection of virtual machines and publish virtual machines to the public.
