Rancher Labs, a provider of container management software from Silicon Valley, USA, today reported results for 2016, doubling its headcount, exceeding its annual profit target by 20%, and having more than 19 million software downloads. Rancher Labs 'flagship product, Rancher, an open source container management platform, makes it much easier to deploy and run containers on any infrastructure in a production environment, and the company's strong upward momentum in 2016 demonstrates strong market demand for its popular open source software.
"2016 was a successful and valuable year for us, and much of that success was due to the deep engagement and support of our community of developers, users, partners and customers, for which we are grateful," said Sheng Liang, co-founder and CEO of Rancher Labs. Rancher provides a complete, easy-to-use solution for users and is the only product on the market that supports Swarm, Kubernetes and Mesos, enabling containers to run on all clouds, all through an extremely simple user interface. "
Universal performance and product experience improvements
In March 2016, Rancher Labs announced the launch of its open source container management platform, Rancher, which includes several key enhancements since the original beta launched in June 2015. Since Rancher was launched, Rancher Labs has rolled out a total of 553 releases, including key features such as modular infrastructure services, Rancher orchestration capabilities, and the ability to integrate Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, and Mesos distributions. In its latest release, Rancher Labs extends Rancher Infrastructure Services capabilities even further through lifecycle management of container networking and storage plug-in frameworks. These frameworks can be combined in custom environments to provide straightforward, repeatable deployment of Infrastructure services. In the latest version of Rancher v1.3, the company added experimental support for Windows containers.
Capital and corporate growth
In May 2016, Rancher Labs announced the completion of a $20 million Series B round led by new investor GRC SinoGreen, joined by existing investors Mayfield and Nexus Venture Partners. The funds will be used to support sales and marketing activities. To keep up with demand for its products, the company expanded its workforce by 100 percent and opened branches in countries such as the UK, Japan and China. Customer subscription purchases have also increased significantly, with Rancher Labs having more than 35 large enterprise customers who purchased subscriptions by the end of 2016. Growing partner network
In October 2016, Rancher launched its Global Partner Network, a comprehensive partner program designed to expand the company's global reach, increase enterprise adoption, and provide partners and customers with the tools to succeed.
