In February 18, Xi'an Industry and Information Bureau, Municipal Transportation Bureau and Municipal Public Security Bureau jointly issued the Xi'an standardized self-driving vehicle testing guidelines (for trial implementation), standardizing the test area, test vehicles, accident identification and other related issues. The opinion points out that test vehicles and related staff should conduct examination and testing in closed test sites. The vehicles tested through the review and related staff can carry out road testing of self-driving vehicles in the designated open area. Closed testing is conducted in third-party institutions with relevant qualifications, and open testing roads are given priority in designated areas such as space bases, ecological zones and international harbor areas.

In March last year, in order to promote the development of self-driving technology, motor vehicles equipped with autopilot systems were standardized to carry out self-driving related scientific research and stereotyped tests on public roads. The Chongqing Economic Information Commission, the Municipal Public Security Bureau, the Municipal Traffic Commission and the Municipal Urban Management Commission jointly formulated and issued the detailed rules for the implementation of Chongqing self-driving Road Test Management (for trial implementation).
