Xmanager connects to AIX system

The Xmanager tool is often used by clients to access Unix or Linux systems remotely and graphically. The following example shows how to connect through the xmanager tool in an AIX system.

1. Check the software packages needed in the AXI system

2. Verify whether the Xwindow service is started

Verify whether the XDMCP service is started, port number: 177/UDP

[root@/soft/database/Disk1aix211] # netstat-an | grep 177

Udp4 0 0 * .177 *.

[root@/soft/database/Disk1aix211] #

If you see that port 177is enabled, the Xwindow service is working and you can connect graphically!

3. If the service is not started

You can start the XDMCP service like this:

1. Use root login system.

2. Do the following:

$cd / usr/dt/bin

. / dtconfig-e

$cd / etc

$rc.dt

4. Check whether the telnet service is started

Xmanager remote connections are usually connected through telnet or ssh (AIX system telnet server is started through the super process inetd, first make sure that telnet service is started under inetd)

5. Verify:

Connect via Xbrower

Connect via Xstart
