We've all been there, rolling doomsday for hours on our smartphones. Sometimes it's good to quickly and easily check the time you use your phone on a given day without having to go to your settings and check it manually. Google knows this, and now the company is launching a digital health-driven screen time widget that you can add to your phone's home screen.

Screen just-in-time widget

As you can see, the screen time digital health widget gives you easy access to screen time on the home screen. In a 2 × 1 configuration, the widget displays only your total screen time. But if you choose a larger size, it also shows how much time you spend on the first three apps. It is also worth noting that the widget supports Android 12's wallpaper-based theme engine and changes the color based on your current wallpaper, including its exact location on the home screen. In addition, it supports dark and light themes.

We've known for a long time that this widget was developed by Google, and we're glad to see it coming out. While it can be a useful tool for controlling smartphone usage, it is also an interesting indicator to watch-especially if you are battery conscious.

Since the advent of Android 12, Google has been developing some other great widgets, such as the new Gmail widget, YouTube, Drive, and so on, and we even have other widgets like the new Overview that have been shelved internally. We are pleased to see which widgets Google may release next.
