Xiaobian to share with you what the computer network topology is to represent the network structure, I believe that most people do not know much about it, so share this article for your reference, I hope you will learn a lot after reading this article. Let's learn about it!

Computer network topology represents the network structure through the geometric relationship between nodes and communication lines in the network, which reflects the structural relationship between the entities in the network. It is mainly divided into six types: bus type, star type, tree type, ring type, reticular type and mixed type.

Computer network topology (Computer Network Topology) refers to the distribution and connection status of devices between networks composed of computers. Draw it two on the diagram and it becomes a topological diagram. Generally, the location of the device, the name type of the device, and the type of connection media between the devices should be indicated on the diagram. It is divided into physical topology and logical topology.

The computer network topology refers to the topological configuration of the connection between the communication subnet nodes, which represents the network structure through the geometric relationship between the nodes and communication lines in the network, and reflects the structural relationship of the entities in the network.

Type of computer network topology:

1. Bus structure

The bus structure is a way to connect all end users using the same media or cable, that is, the physical media of the connected end users is shared by all devices

In a point-to-point link configuration, half-duplex operation only needs to use a simple mechanism to ensure that the two end users work in turn. In the point-to-multipoint mode, access to the line is determined by inquiring on the control side. However, in the LAN environment, all data stations are equal and can not adopt a point-to-multipoint approach, but adopt carrier sense multiple access with collision detection (it is a media access method used in bus-shared networks, abbreviated as CSMA/CD).

This structure has the advantages of low cost, flexible access of data end users, and the failure of site or one end user does not affect the communication of other sites or end users.

The disadvantage is that only one end user can send data at a time, and other end users have to wait until they get the right to send. The mechanism of media access access is complicated. However, due to the simple wiring requirements, easy expansion, end-user failure, additions and deletions do not affect the work of the whole network, so it is the easiest to use in LAN technology.

2. Star structure

The star structure is convenient for centralized control, because the communication between end users must pass through the central station. Because of this feature, it also brings the advantages of easy maintenance and security, end-user equipment downtime due to failure will not affect the communication between other end users. But the central system must be highly reliable, because once it is damaged, the whole system tends to be paralyzed.

3. Ring structure

Ring structure is widely used in LAN. The transmission media in this structure is from one end user to another end user until all end users are connected into a ring, which eliminates the dependence on the central system when the end user communicates. The characteristic of the ring structure is that each end user is connected to two adjacent end users, so there is a point-to-point link and operates in an one-way way, which is divided into upstream end users and downstream end users. User N is the upstream end user of user Niss1, and Ninten1 is the downstream end user of N. If the Nissan 1 side needs to send data to the N side, it will take almost a circle to reach the N side.

4. Hybrid topology

Hybrid topology is a network structure which is composed of star structure or ring structure and bus structure, which can better meet the expansion of larger network and solve the limitation of transmission distance of star network. At the same time, it also solves the limitation of bus network in the number of connected users.

5. Distributed structure

The distributed network connects the computers distributed in different locations through lines, and each device in the network is connected by a point-to-point link. The distributed network structure has the following characteristics: due to the use of decentralized control, even if a local failure occurs in the whole network, it will not affect the operation of the whole network, so it has high reliability. The shortest path algorithm is used in the path selection, so the network delay time is less, the transmission rate is high, but the control is complex; the data link can be established directly between each node, and the information flow is the shortest; it is convenient for resource sharing in the whole network. The disadvantages are that the connection cable is long and the cost is high; the network management software is complex; the packet switching, path selection and flow control are complex; this structure is not used in the general local area network.

6. Tree structure network

The tree structure is a hierarchical centralized control network. compared with the star type, its communication line length is shorter, the cost is lower, the node is easy to expand, and it is convenient to find the path, but except the leaf node and its connected lines, any node or its connected line failure will affect the system.

7. Cellular topology

Cellular topology is a commonly used structure in wireless LAN. It is characterized by point-to-point and multipoint transmission of wireless transmission media (microwave, satellite, infrared, etc.). It is a kind of wireless network, which is suitable for urban network, campus network and enterprise network.
