Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--
This article will explain in detail how to use GIMP to easily edit images on Fedora. The editor thinks it is very practical, so I share it for you as a reference. I hope you can get something after reading this article.
GIMP (short for GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a free and open source image processing software. It has many functions, from simple image editing to complex filters, scripts, and even animations, and it is a good alternative to popular commercial similar software.
Install GIMP
GIMP is available in the official Fedora repository. To install it, run:
Sudo dnf install gimp single window mode
After you open the application, it displays a dark theme window with the toolbox and the main editing area. Note that it has two window modes, which you can switch between by selecting "window Windows-> single window mode Single Window Mode". By selecting this option, all components of the user interface will be displayed in a single window. Otherwise, they will be separate.
Load Ima
To load the image, go to File File-> Open Open, then select your file and select your image file.
Resize an image
To resize the image, you can resize it based on a pair of parameters, including pixels and percentages, which are convenient when editing the image.
Let's say we need to shrink the Fedora 30 background image to 75% of its current size. To do this, select Image Image-> scale Scale, and then on the scale dialog box, select percentage percent in the unit drop-down list. Next, enter "75" as the width or height, and then press Tab. By default, other dimensions are automatically resized to maintain the aspect ratio with the changed dimensions. Now, save the other options unchanged and proportionally.
The image shrinks to 75% of its original size.
Rotate the image
Rotation is a transformation operation, so you can find it under "Image Image-> transform Transform" under the main menu, with the option to rotate the image 90 °or 180 °. There are also options to flip the image vertically or horizontally under the above options.
Let's say we need to rotate the image 90 °. After applying a 90 °clockwise rotation and horizontal flip, our image will look like this:
Add text
Adding text is very simple. Just select the "A" icon from the toolbox, and then, on your image, click where you want to add text. If the toolbox is not visible, open it from window Windows-> New Toolbox New Toolbox.
When you edit the text, you may notice that the text dialog box has font customization options, including font family, font size, and so on.
