Win10 is installed in solid state, and Ubuntu16.04 is going to be installed in mechanical hard disk.

Solid state disk format MBR, mechanical hard disk format GPT

First, make U boot disk

1. Download the system image Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

You can download it or download it. (extraction code: 5t4s)

2. Download UltraISO floppy disk pass

3. Burn the image to the USB disk

I set aside about 100G of space on the mechanical hard disk (disk 1) for Ubuntu to use.

1. Right-click on this computer and select manage

2. Select disk management after opening it.

3. Divide the space and be careful not to assign the drive letter!

3. Setting BIOS [important]

To set BIOS, you need to query the BIOS shortcut keys corresponding to your own model. Take my Thinkpad E550 as an example, F1 chooses to enter BIOS,F12 as the startup item.

[note] set BIOS not to insert USB flash drive at this time.

1. Set the startup mode to Both, that is, both UEFI and Leagcy are OK. Note that the preferred option below is Leagcy, and CMS should be opened to YES!

2. Turn off safe mode!

Fourth, install Ubuntu

After setting up the BIOS, the computer is turned off, plug in the USB disk, and then turn on the computer.

Press F12 to select startup options, of course, you can also change the boot order in BIOS, but don't forget to install it later and you need to restart it. At that time, if you don't unplug the USB disk in time, you will not be able to enter Ubuntu, or even have no Ubuntu startup items and other strange problems, so it is safer to select startup items directly.

1. Select Install Ubuntu

2. Choose a language

3, wifi settings, be careful not to connect here, otherwise the installation is too slow!

4. some options are installed, and be careful not to check them here.

5. Installation type, select other!

6. Set up the partition

1. Find the 100G unallocated space divided under winodws, and then click the plus sign in the lower left corner to allocate the space, as shown below!

2. Set up

Just be the same as the partition of / boot!

8, create users, set time zone and other options, and finally wait for the installation to complete.

9. After installation, restart the computer!

10. The gurb2 menu will appear. Select the first one to enter Ubuntu and the third to enter win10

For the first time, don't worry, if there is any problem, suit the medicine to the case! If there is no startup item, you can search the Internet for easyBCD or easyUEFI, corresponding to leagcy and UEFI respectively!

By the way, if you have multiple disks and multiple boot partitions, be sure to take out other disks when reinstalling win10!
