I received a call from a customer today saying that vmware vsphere 6.5 vcenter could not enter, and the prompt was: 503 service unavailable.

As shown below:

The client's environment is a 6-node VSAN. Since one of the hosts needs to be shut down for maintenance, and the VCenter is also on this host, the VCenter virtual machine is shut down together with the host without moving the VCenter. After the host is maintained, it will be started again. When logging in to the VCenter, the above error will be prompted.

Connect to vcenter background through ssh, check services, there are several services not up.

It won't start manually. I tried to log into the vcenter management page through port 9443, and found that the "vcenterserver" service did not start. I tried to start it manually, but it stopped immediately after starting it.

It seems that I can only look in KB of vmware and find a similar fault post.

It is recommended to make a backup of the data or take a snapshot of the virtual machine before the operation.

approximate steps:

First find the postgresql logs file, find the error statement, and check the key value (id, device_key) reported in the error.

Then log in to the database and delete records in the vc.vpx_vm_virtual_device table with the delete statement. Restart vcenter.

You can log in normally.
