Although voice-enabled devices make our lives more convenient, they can sometimes bring pain and even potential security risks. Smart speakers who "always listen" are particularly controversial because they sometimes trigger the smallest things and record conversations that have nothing to do with them. Google will soon introduce new sensitivity options for "Ok Google" or "hey Google" triggers so that when you don't need them, you won't join the conversation.

One of the most common problems for users who always listen to smart speakers and displays is that they sometimes catch triggers even if you don't ask them what to do or what to do. So, eventually, Google will provide sensitive options through the Google home app. According to the screenshot of XDA Developers, you can find a slider from the lowest sensitivity to the highest sensitivity in the device settings.

When you use Google Assistant on speakers or monitors, Google will also have a better idea of what audio data it collects from you. If you want to participate in the manual audit process, you must reconfirm the voice and audio activity settings. However, if you don't want the conversation with Google Assistant to be part of this process, you don't need to make any changes.

Google is still encouraging people to choose to join so that digital assistants can improve themselves by collecting and reviewing data. Google says the purpose of all these updates to Google's home app is to reduce the audio data they store. But at least in the process, they also ensure better privacy and control for users, especially when it comes to what kind of data they get from them.
