Huawei seems to want to better position itself as a competitor to Google and Amazon. According to Huawei CEO Richard? Richard Yu says the company is preparing a new digital assistant for markets outside China-which means that in the near future, you may use your Huawei assistant instead of Google in the United States.

This will not be Huawei's first digital assistant. The company already has a digital assistant in China called Xiaoyi, which runs on Huawei's smartphone and a smart speaker called Huawei AICube. However, bringing digital assistants to countries outside China will give Huawei an important technology player in the US, rather than just looking at another smartphone maker from the perspective of the average American consumer.

"We use our own products in China and we will have our own products outside China in the future," Yu Minhong said in an interview with the US Consumer News and Business Channel.

Of course, just because Huawei is developing new digital assistants for the United States doesn't mean it will take off. At present, this space is dominated by Google and Alexa, often using Siri, but is considered a second-class assistant. Then there is Samsung Bixby, which has its own characteristics on Samsung devices and has a lot of functional problems.

It would be interesting to see another player in the digital assistant world, although some people are already a little frustrated by fragmentation, especially when it comes to supporting smart home technology. After all, just because a product works with Apple's HomeKit and GoogleAssistant doesn't mean it can work with Bixby and Alexa. Many products can only work in one ecosystem. In other words, if you don't use the ecosystem of the product, you have to look elsewhere.

When it comes to digital assistants, there are quite few details. We don't know what it will be called or when it will be launched. However, according to Yu's comments, the assistant seems to be close to becoming a reality.
