AirPower is expected to be launched by the end of 2020 or early 2021.

Recently, when talking about the gadget actor podcast, blogger and YouTube user Jon Jern "prosser revealed that Apple hopes to release a new version of air power in the last quarter of 2020 or the first quarter of 2021.

If we encounter further overheating problems, the timeline may change, but it shows that Apple is now working very hard to get the product on the shelves as soon as possible before the port-less iPhone in 2021.

AirPower will be released at the end of this year, which means that AirPower can make its official debut with iPhone 12 in September. The prototype was released at the annual event in 2017, although it is not ready and the release date is not set after 2018.

But Apple may not make the same mistake again and will only release it after the product is ready to be released. If that means postponing the launch until early 2021, Cupertino may choose to launch wireless charging boards at its annual March event.

The Murphy three-in-one wireless charger sold through Apple's website for AirPods, Apple Watch and iPhone retails for $119.95. It's great, but it doesn't provide what makes the AirPower so unique-the ability to recharge the device anywhere on the mat.

Admittedly, most people won't worry about it, but that's why Apple plans to stand out from the competition, and why it's not surprising that there are rumors that the AirPower is priced at $150 or $200.

The price of air power may be twice that of Murphy's three-in-one product.

But now that Apple has resumed the project, it seems that the company led by Tim Cook has a higher pricing target. In particular, Jon Prosser thinks the retail price of the new air power is $250.

How did Apple make the AirPower work this time?

The current AirPower prototype, internally known as C68 (Calisto's 68th prototype), has fewer but larger coils to reduce the chance of overheating. Because Apple Watch uses proprietary charging technology, the original AirPower will face many heat dissipation problems when charging multiple devices at the same time.

The new AirPower version also replaces the A10 fusion chipset with a newer A11 bionic. The latter is used to disable both cores, but it is Apple's first chip to dynamically manage heat, and the company is taking full advantage of that.

To solve the overheating problem that causes so many prototypes to burn, the A11 Bionic can transmit power to specific coil areas if necessary. It can also wait for the temperature to drop before applying more electricity.
