The difference between them is that the design idea of distributed operating system is different from that of network operating system, which determines that they are also different in structure, working way and function. The network operating system requires that the network users must first understand the network resources when using the network resources, and the network users must know the functions and configuration of each computer in the network, software resources, network file structure and so on. In the network, if the user wants to read a shared file, the user must know which computer and which directory the file is placed in. Distributed operating system manages system resources in a global way, it can schedule network resources arbitrarily for users, and the scheduling process is "transparent". When the user submits a job, the distributed operating system can select the most appropriate processor in the system according to the need, submit the user's job to the processor, and transmit the result to the user after the processor completes the job. In this process, the user will not be aware of the existence of multiple processors, the system is like a processor.

Cohesion means that each database distribution node is highly autonomous and has a local database management system. Transparency means that each database distribution node is transparent to the user's application, and it is impossible to see whether it is local or remote. In a distributed database system, users do not feel that the data is distributed, that is, they do not need to know whether the relationship is segmented, whether there is a copy, which site the data is stored in and which site the transaction is executed on.
