This article is to share with you what to do when Cacti encounters heavy traffic. The editor thinks it is very practical, so I share it with you to learn. I hope you can get something after reading this article.

Recently, several Windows streaming media servers in Henan project use high traffic, so we need to monitor the daily bandwidth usage and adjust accordingly according to the specific situation! Cacti unified monitoring is used in the early deployment of the monitoring system, and Nagios unified monitoring and alarm is used in the service. In the actual use process, the streaming media bandwidth quickly exceeded 100Mb Google Cacti map information is extremely inaccurate, a lot of similar cases, mainly reflected in the Snmp 32-bit problem, after some trouble, the problem is still the same!

From the picture point of view, after changing to In/Out bits (64-bit Counters), there will be no map directly, while In/Out bits will show the picture, but the data is completely wrong! If you take a casual look at the bandwidth usage of the server, it will exceed 100Mb at any time.

So continue to check and find that it seems that the windows system itself does not support snmp 64bit counters. Please see here:

So Nagios is used to directly monitor the counter data of the network card:

[root@bak ~] # / usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nt-H "ip address"-p 12489-v COUNTER-l'\ Network Interface (Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet)\ Bytes Total/sec', "Total_Bytes/s% f"-w 78643200-c 85196800 Total_Bytes/s 21052800.000000 | 'Total_Bytes/s% frank21052800.000000% Tran 78643200.000000X 85196800.000000

It is found that the data is roughly correct, (21052800 / 1024 / 1024) * 8 = 160Mb, so write it directly to the configuration file and use the check_nrpe plug-in to call:

Define service {use local-service host_name ip address service_description Network traffic check_command checkout ntasking calculation notifications_enabled 1}\\ Network Interface (Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet)\\ Bytes Total/sec', "Total_Bytes/s% f"-w 78643200-c 85196800 notifications_enabled 1}

The above is what to do when Cacti encounters heavy traffic. The editor believes that there are some knowledge points that we may see or use in our daily work. I hope you can learn more from this article. For more details, please follow the industry information channel.
