ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket'/ var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

# the above reason is that the mysql service is not started

[root@Cacti ~] # / etc/init.d/mysqld start

Starting mysqld: [OK]

[root@Cacti ~] # chkconfig

Mysqld 0: close 1: close 2: close 3: close 4: close 5: close 6: close

[root@Cacti ~] # chkconfig-- level 345 mysqld on # set boot to start mysql service automatically

[root@Cacti] # chkconfig-- list mysqld

# connecting to the database service through IP

[root@Cacti] # mysql-h ip-uroot-p
