In this issue, the editor will bring you what are the core concepts of Kubernetes. The article is rich in content and analyzes and narrates it from a professional point of view. I hope you can get something after reading this article.

Overview of components

The following is the component diagram

Kubernetes adopts Master/Slave architecture and mainly consists of the following components:

The Master component contains

API Server:API Gateway, the node used to interact with all components

Controller Manager: control of business logic, including all kinds of controller modules

Scheduler: actual scheduling of Pod

ETCD: used to store metadata for all Kubernetes, KV storage

Slave component

Kubelet: Node and Pod cycles Lifecycle Management

Kube-Proxy: Pod's external service discovery agent

CAdvisor: container monitoring, which is currently integrated into kubelet components

Generally, commands are submitted through kubectl, then stored in ETCD through APIServer, and then watch and related processing are done by each component.

Core resources big picture

Pod: a set of containers that are the most efficient scheduling unit in the kubernetes system and are Workload that directly handle business.

Apply the configuration:

ConfigMap: can store relevant application configuration information

Secret: generally used to store application key information, which is encoded by base64

PVC: persistent storage of applications

Apply Service Discovery:

Service: load balancing of Pod external services

Endpoints: corresponds to Service "one" one, indicating the IP/Port information of Pods

Related controllers:

Deployment: lifecycle management for stateless applications, managing Pod through ReplicaSet, requiring all Pod to be stateless

StatefulSet: lifecycle management for stateful applications, supporting mounting of persistent disks and sequence

DaemonSet: daemon, one per Node

Job: provides one-time tasks

JobCron: provides scheduled tasks

These are the core concepts of Kubernetes shared by the editor. If you happen to have similar doubts, you might as well refer to the above analysis to understand. If you want to know more about it, you are welcome to follow the industry information channel.
