DHCP+WDS automatic deployment

DHCP: dynamic Host setup Protocol (English: Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol,DHCP) is a network protocol of a local area network. It works with UDP protocol and has two main uses: for intranets or network service providers to automatically assign IP addresses, and for users to use intranet administrators as a means of central management of all computers.

WDS:Windows deployment service (Windows Deployment Services, abbreviated WDS) is suitable for the deployment of computer operating systems in large and medium-sized networks. You can use the Windows deployment service to manage images and unattended installation scripts, and provide options for manual and unattended installation.

WDS services work with DHCP services and Windows active directory domain services to remotely install and deploy operating systems for clients that support PXE startup

The purpose of the experiment is to realize the server to install client win10 system online through automatic deployment.

Experimental environment: virtual machine, one server system, one client, download win10 system image

One, both machines choose host-only mode and set an IP address for the server.

Second, install the DHCP+WDS service tool, open the server manager, select to add roles and functions, follow the prompts to proceed to the next step, select dhcp+wds service for installation.

Third, open the windows deployment Services tool, right-click on your server and select configure your server, and install it as shown in the picture.

Fourth, at this time, we need to have the system image file of win10 on the server's machine, which we can obtain from the cd/dvd of the virtual machine, and then we open it to install the boot and install the image. After the installation is complete, we need to open the windows deployment.

Fifth, click the start button, find the windows management tool, find DHCP and open it. Right-click New scope at IPV4-enter active domain name-configure address range-configure excluded address range-set lease term-configure a gateway-configure DNS address-next activate this application domain

Sixth, open the virtual machine, select WDSboot enter, enter the installation interface, enter your computer name\ user name to log in and then install the system. (the computer name had better be changed to simple and easy to use in advance.)
