I. brief introduction

Domain name system (Domain Name System, abbreviation: DNS) is a service of the Internet. As a distributed database that maps domain names and IP addresses to each other, it makes it more convenient for people to access the Internet. DNS uses TCP and UDP port 53 [1]. Currently, the limit for the length of each first-level domain name is 63 characters, and the total length of a domain name cannot exceed 253 characters.

Second, the experimental environment

1. Create a Server2016 server with a virtual machine

3. Start the experiment

1. We click the start menu button in the lower left corner of the Server2016 to find the server manager.

2. After the server manager is running, click add roles and functions.

3. After opening it, we click next, we can see the DNS service, and click add.

4. After adding, we click next to see the feature here. There is no need to click next, and then click next to select install.

5. After the installation is complete, click close, find the Windows management tool in the start menu, and click DNS to enter the DNS Manager.

6. Double-click the DNS in the manager to expand, and click the arrow in front of the expansion directory to expand.

7. Establish the DNS query mechanism, right-click the forward query mechanism, and click New region.

Click finish and the wizard appears. Click next, select the main area, and click next. (because this is the first DNS we created)

9. Set the domain name to A.com (the domain name is not fixed), and then click next.

10. DNS will create a configuration file that is already well configured. Click next.

11. Choose not to allow dynamic updates, click next.

12. Click finish to set up our area, and we also need to create a host file. What we created before is that the A.com lacks a host name. Double-click the area we created on the right, right-click in the space, and select New Host.

13. Enter www in the name, and the fully specified domain name below will display a complete website address. Enter 192.168.100.80 below, so that the website can be accessed directly through the domain name without entering the IP address.

14. At this time, we "Win+R" on the client and type nslookup www.A.com to see if we can resolve to the website address.

After testing, the experiment is completed.
