Next, please follow the editor to study!
I have been using Ubuntu and Fedora as novice entry-level systems, but what I really want to recommend is Arch. After the previous study, maybe you have a general understanding of Linux. Now if you want to speed up your pace, you may want to take a look at this article. If I want to ask why I studied Linux, I can only answer Just for fun.
This article is basically my personal opinion, there is an incorrect place to ask criticism and correction, in addition, this article only recommends Arch, and does not say that Arch is the most suitable for beginners.
My way of learning Linux
Speaking of my Linux learning road, in fact, the time is not long, around May 2014 to join the Linux China group, just began to understand this system, and because it is a senior three, I can not spend too much time in learning Linux this system, but my experience has made me spend relatively little time, has been able to reach the level of Linux as their desktop system.
It all started because my computer had only 512 Mb of memory, which made me, a long-time xp user, finally stuck with a QQ. I endured it for a long time, and finally I went to find a solution. Maybe because of my idea, the solution is not to upgrade the hardware for the computer, but to find a system to replace xp, when Linux came into my eye, saying everywhere that Linux is light and simple, and that it only needs a few megabytes of memory to run smoothly. Of course, what I searched out at this time must be the legendary most novice-friendly Ubuntu. Finally, I installed it with excitement. I was very happy at that time. I felt that I could finally change the system and get rid of the old card. But the facts proved that I was naive, Ubuntu Unity desktop, my old antique machine simply can not bear, play more stuck, and even later installed XUbuntu also useless, encountered problems, I went to search the answer can be found, but the answer is basically invalid, in the face of this situation, I played Ubuntu did not learn anything.
I was a little frustrated by the experience of Ubuntu, and it was not suitable for my machine. Then I learned about Debian, which is said to be stable and robust. I am hesitant to install this time, the installation process is not as smooth as Ubuntu, I remember that I should have encountered some problems, but still solved. I am very satisfied with the installation of Debian this time. My computer is like a resurrection and will never be stuttered again. But what can I do in the face of Debian? I later found out that I didn't do anything, I didn't know anything, and I just clicked with the mouse, right-click to check the properties, and double-click on an executable file. After a week or two (I only come back from school for half a day on weekends to touch a computer), one day, I saw a group of Linux China talking about a distribution called Arch. I searched it out of curiosity, and that was the beginning of my encounter with Arch.
The design philosophy of Arch Linux is lightweight and concise. This is exactly what I want, and I started my journey to Arch without saying a word. At that time, I did not know what the command line was, and the installation process was based on the process of Arch Wiki. Although I did not know why, I successfully installed it at one time, and saw myself typing the command step by step to install the system with a unique sense of achievement. Arch Wiki provides an one-stop service, just after the installation of the system Arch is without a desktop, but Arch Wiki provides a detailed desktop configuration process, as well as input method configuration process. Check my memory usage, LXDE + 32-bit Arch Linux, my memory occupies only about 70m, I know I found true love this time, so I have been using Arch so far, and thank my computer for its low configuration, otherwise I will probably stay in Ubuntu.
Advantages of using Arch Linux
As for why I recommend Arch Linux? For a novice, what are its advantages over other distributions?
Many people will say that Arch is too difficult, not suitable for beginners, and not friendly to beginners. But I don't think so, the difficulty is that you stand at a higher starting point, and this high starting point will make you make faster progress and faster understanding of Linux. What Arch brings to me is such a learning experience. I never come to the meeting, and it doesn't take long to teach others. Some people may say that I am just a special case, so this article is for those who want to be special cases. Learning depends on yourself, as long as you have the will, what can't you learn? Recently, many newcomers in the QQ group of "Linux China-novice Village" always ask for answers on their own, but they have never thought about what they have tried for this question, and whether they have the perseverance to persist in learning Linux.
Here are some of the reasons I think I recommend Arch, which only represents my personal opinion:
◆ Arch will get you started from a higher starting point, but in turn, you will need a little patience to learn, and you will learn faster.
◆ Arch Wiki is very rich, which is a sharp tool for us to solve problems when we encounter problems. When you encounter a problem, you can basically solve it by going to Arch Wiki first, which is much more reliable than the Blog or a little note written by others.
◆ Arch uses rolling updates, so you don't have to think about reinstalling the system in the future.
◆ Arch doesn't add anything extra except for the basic software packages, so your system is basically what you need.
◆ Arch's pacman is a very simple and efficient package management tool to help you easily manage your system.
◆ Arch's AUR repository contains a large number of software packages that can be built with a single makepkg command, which is very convenient.
For some of the above reasons, I think Arch is actually suitable for beginners.
At this point, the study of "how to understand Arch Linux" is over. I hope to be able to solve your doubts. The collocation of theory and practice can better help you learn, go and try it!
