Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--

Today, I would like to introduce you to another tool we developed-the client folder redirection permissions controller. First, let's talk about the background of this tool.

Horizonview agent version 6.2 adds the client folder redirection feature, which provides file sharing between the client and the remote desktop, making it easy for users to copy files from the client's local disk to the remote desktop. But there's a buts here! New demand is coming! Customers only want remote desktops to share files on the local disk, but do not want files on the remote desktop to be shared on the local disk. What should I do? An artifact called client folder Redirection permissions Manager has appeared! Ha ha! When we gather ten artifacts, will the demon gods also appear?

First, configure the environment for folder redirection.

1) when Horizon connects to the server, the version of View Agent is version 6.2.

2) there is a target desktop with Horizon View Agent version 6.2 installed and the client redirection component installed.

3) create a new desktop pool and add the target desktop to the desktop pool.

Let's take a look at the settings for HorizonView Agent 6.2 folder redirection.

Use the Horizon client to connect to your Horizon connection server and log in to the target virtual machine with a domain user.

Set up client redirection to share one or more directories or disks of your local disk.

Next, let's take a look at the steps to enable the folder redirection permissions controller.

Download the zip package attached to this article, decompress it, and you will get the tsdrvdisvc.dll file.

64 bits: File:View6.2 tsdrvdisvc.dll.zip

32bits: File:View6.2 32bits tsdrvdisvc.dll.zip

II) stop the service "tsdrvdisvc"

3) replace the "tsdrvdisvc.dll" in "[YourDisk]:\ Program Files\ VMware\ VMwareView\ Agent\ bin" in the tsdrvdisvc.dll file above.

4) use the administrator user to log in to your desktop and edit / create a new registry.

Create a new value "Status" in the registry "REG_SZ" in HKLM\\ SOFTWARE\\ Policies\\ VMware, Inc.\\ VMware VDM\\ Agent\\ Configuration\\ FolderRedirection\\ status "

Set it to 1.

Create a new value "Permissions" in the registry "REG_SZ" in "HKLM\\ SOFTWARE\\ Policies\\ VMware, Inc.\ VMwareVDM\\ Agent\\ Configuration\\ FolderRedirection\\ permissions" and set it to 0.

V) start the service "tsdrvdisvc".

Let's see how it works!

1. When Status=1 or Permission=0, users can access the files on the local disk and copy the files on the local disk to the remote desktop. However, there is no write permission to the local disk. When a user attempts to create, copy, modify, or delete a file on a local disk, a dialog box pops up indicating that there is no permission.

2. When Status=1, Permission=1, the user has read and write access to the local disk, and can achieve any operation between the local disk and the remote desktop disk.

2. When Status=0, no matter what value Permission is, the user cannot access the local disk. When you try to open the local disk, the following dialog box pops up.

This is how the tool controls permissions. Configuration is very simple, but also very good to meet the needs of customers, well-deserved artifact!
