Although bookings are now open, shipments of the Xperia 5 will begin in the United States in early November.

What do you need to know? Sony's latest "compact" flagship phone, the Xperia 5, is now available for order in the United States and Europe. The phone, which starts at $800, uses a full-theater organic light-emitting diode display with a 6.1-inch aspect ratio of 21: 9 and runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 chipset.

Sony announced Xperia 5 at the IFA 2019 press conference in Berlin last week. The phone is very similar to the Xperia 1, which was launched earlier this year, but features a smaller 6.1in display. Pre-orders for Sony's latest "compact" flagship phones are now available in the United States and Europe.

In Europe, Sony offers a free pair of WF-1000XM3 wireless noise reduction headphones and Xperia 5. However, as GSMArena's people point out, only the top 125 customers receive free gifts.

The Sony Xperia 5 starts at £799 in France and the Netherlands, while it has already sold for £849 in Germany. Of the three countries, Xperia 5 shipments will begin on October 2nd.

In the United States, Sony's new Xperia 5 can be ordered through BH and Focus for $799. However, unlike European retailers, the two US retailers do not offer any free gifts on their mobile phones. Notably, smartphones will be shipped in the United States on November 5.

Sony XPERIA 1 offers a larger 6.5in 4K OLED display with an aspect ratio of 21: 9 and currently sells for $900in in the United States.
