Apple's efforts to launch "sign in to Apple" continue to introduce Face ID and touch ID login options for iCloud on the web. Biometric authentication may have a long way to go before it completely replaces passwords, but Apple is taking this step to allow users to log in to iCloud.com using their facial fingerprints.

When you access iCloud Online in Safari on iPhone, iPad, or Mac running the latest beta version of your respective software, you will be able to choose to log in using biometric technology. Currently, both touch ID and Face ID are available, but only for some devices (that is, only newer iPhone and iPad models support Face ID). Users of old devices or Macintosh computers can log in using Touch ID.

Accessing iCloud.com using one of these devices automatically redirects you to beta.icloud.com and prompts you to log in to your account using biometric authentication. To try the upcoming features, you need to run iOS 13, iPadOS 13, or macOS Catalina and use a Safari browser.

9to5Mac has found a new feature that allows them to log in to iCloud using Face ID on iPhone XS Max running the latest developer beta version of iOS 13.

Logging in using touch ID or Face ID is not only faster, more convenient, and more secure than entering (possibly) lengthy passwords. Apple has previously announced that it will provide developers with a "log in to Apple" tool before the release of iOS 13 this summer.
