In this issue, the editor will bring you about how to protect your privacy in Windows 10. The article is rich in content and analyzed and described from a professional point of view. I hope you can get something after reading this article.

Some people worry that Win10 will collect too much personal information from users. Whether or not you think Microsoft's operating system crosses privacy lines, or just wants to make sure you protect your personal life as much as possible, we are ready to help you. Here's how to protect your privacy in a few minutes.

At the top of many people's privacy issues is the data collected about them while they are browsing the web. This information creates a profile of a person's interest, which is used by various companies to locate ads. Win10 does this by using advertising ID. When you browse the web, ID collects information not only about you, but also when you use the windows 10 application.

If necessary, you can turn off the ad ID. Start the Win10 Settings application (look like a gear by clicking the start button in the lower left corner of the screen, and then clicking the Settings icon), and then go to Privacy > General. There, you will see a list of options titled "change Privacy options"; * control advertising ID. Move the slider from on to off. You will still send you ads, but they will be general ads rather than target ads, and your interests will not be tracked.

If necessary, you can turn off the ad ID for windows 10. You can still get ads, but they will be general ads. Click any image in this story to enlarge it. )

To ensure that you are not tracking online at 10:00 when using windows, and to turn off any other way that Microsoft will use your information to locate ads, please visit the "Advertising Settings" section of the Microsoft Privacy Dashboard. Log in to the Microsoft account at the top of the page. Then go to the "interest-based Advertising: Microsoft account" section at the top of the page and move the slider from "on" to "off". Then, in the "interest-based Advertising: this browser" section, move the slider from on to off. Note that you need to go to each browser you use and make sure the slider for Personalized Advertising in this browser is set to off.

Turn off location tracking

Wherever you go, windows 10 knows where you are. Some people don't mind this because it helps the operating system provide you with relevant information, such as your local weather, nearby restaurants, and so on. However, if you don't want windows 10 to track your location, you can tell it to stop.

Start the Settings application, then go to Privacy > location, click change, and then on the screen that appears, move the slider from on to off. Doing so turns off all location tracking for each user on the PC.

If you click the change button, you can turn off location tracking for each user on the windows 10 device.

You can also turn it off on a user-by-user basis-so if you have multiple individuals using the same device with different accounts, each of them can turn location tracking on or off. To enable or disable location tracking for any single account, log in to the account, return to the same screen, then go to the slider below the word "location" and move it to turn it on or off instead of clicking change.

* this is not necessarily all or all of the content-you can turn off location tracking on an application-by-application basis. If you want your location to be used only for some applications and not others, make sure location tracking is turned on, and then scroll down to the "Select applications that can use your precise location" section. You will see a list of each application that can use your location. For applications that want to allow your location (for example, weather or news), move the slider to on, and for applications that are not in use, move the slider to off.

When you turn off location tracking, windows 10 still records your past location records. To clear your location record, scroll to location record, and then click clear. Even if you use location tracking, you may need to clear the history periodically; there is no automatic cleanup method.

Close the Timeline

The windows 10 April 2018 update introduces a new feature called Timeline that allows you to view and resume activity and open files that you started on windows 10 PC and any other Windows PC and devices you own. So, for example, you will be able to switch between desktops and laptops, and from each machine recovery activity you start on PC.

To do this, Windows needs to gather information about all activities on each of your computers. If this worries you, you can easily close the Timeline. To do this, go to Settings > Privacy > activity History, and uncheck the box next to "Let Windows collect my activities from this PC" and "Let Windows synchronize my activities to the cloud from this PC".

Here is how to close the timeline so that Microsoft does not collect information about your activities on your PC.

At this point, Win10 no longer collects information about your activities. However, it still retains information about the old activity and displays it in the Timeline on all PC. To delete old information, in the clear activity History section of the screen, click clear.

Note that you must perform these steps on all PC to turn off tracking of activity.

Contain Cortana

Cortana is a very useful digital assistant, but there is a trade-off when using it: to do its job well, it needs to know about you, such as your family location, work location, and your time and route to and from there. If you are worried that this will invade your privacy, you can take some measures to restrict Cortana from collecting your information.

First open the Cortana settings: place the cursor in the Windows search box, and then click the Cortana settings icon that appears in the left pane (which looks like a gear). On the screen that appears, select permissions and history. Click manage information that Cortana can access from this device, and then close location on the screen that appears so that Cortana does not track and store your location.

Then close contact, email, Calendar and Communication History. " This will prevent the assistant from collecting information about your meetings, travel plans, contacts, etc. But it also shuts down Cortana's capabilities, such as reminding you about meetings and upcoming flights. At the bottom of the screen, turn off Browse History so that Cortana does not keep your browsing history.

To prevent Cortana from collecting other types of information, visit the Cortana notebook section of the Microsoft privacy dashboard. You will see a variety of personal content, including finance, flights, news, sports and so on. Click what you want Cortana to stop tracking, and then follow the delete instructions.

If you want to delete all data collected by Cortana about you, click clear Cortana data on the right side of the screen.
