Dynamic routing protocol classification:

Distance Vector Routing Protocol: Select a route by the number of routes passed from the source network to the destination. Typical protocols are RIP and IGRP.

Link-state routing protocols: Route selection takes into account all paths from the source network to the destination. Typical protocols are OSPF and IS-IS.

RIP is a distance vector routing protocol, which measures the number of routes (hops). It supports up to 15 hops, that is, it can only dynamically learn route entries on 15 routes. 16 is unreachable.

RIP has an administrative distance of 120.

RIP routing update process: periodic update, neighbor update, broadcast update, full routing table update.

Convergence: When RIP reaches the second update cycle, the information between routers is the same, and the router learns all the network states.

Split horizon: learn routing information from an interface and not send it out that interface. The creation of loops can be organized.
