Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--
The content of this article mainly focuses on why communication service providers need to implement SD-WAN. The content of the article is clear and clear. It is very suitable for beginners to learn and is worth reading. Interested friends can follow the editor to read together. I hope you can get something through this article!
Communication service providers (CSPs), including operators, managed service providers and cable operators, are now facing the challenge of how to ensure service revenue and profits in commercialized broadband (such as high-speed, cheap Internet services). Software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solutions seem to be a panacea for communications service providers to increase the value of managed services for users.
About $40 billion of CSPs's annual profit comes from WAN services, including MPLS, frame relay, Ethernet, Internet, Tmur1 and leased-line services. In the past, these companies were willing to invest heavily in highly reliable, low-latency, secure links between their data centers or between data centers and branch offices.
But the problem is that with the increase of cloud computing and SaaS applications, distributed organizations have a significant trend to change WAN traffic. Remote users need direct access to SaaS/ cloud applications such as Salesforce,Office 365, Lync, and off premise storage. Traditional network management services, such as MPLS, converge connections to the data center and cannot provide low-latency, high-performance access to cloud applications.
A large number of equipment suppliers, such as Cisco, Riverbed, Viptela, VeloCloud, Silver Peak, Pertino, Talari and so on, have also used SD-WAN technology in their products to make better use of Internet links to meet the challenges brought by WAN traffic. SD-WAN simplifies WAN services to branch offices with software and cloud computing technologies, and simplifies network configuration by virtualizing abstract networks based on software.
But this approach requires the user to acquire and manage the device, which must leave a system back door for administrative privileges for CSPs. After all, with the commercialization of bandwidth, the revenue of CSPs's managed business has peaked, and services such as MPLS will be threatened by SD-WAN technology.
The speed of Internet links (Ethernet, DSL, cable, etc.) is usually between 1 and 2 of the cost of a MPLS connection. Compared with MPLS, Internet services have obvious speed advantages (100MB to 1GB), extensive availability and fast configuration time. The advantage of SD-WAN in reducing the disadvantages of the Internet (poor reliability, unpredictable delay, weak security) is the main factor that threatens the traditional management business services.
CSPs needs to adopt SD-WAN technology to maintain its competitiveness in the managed service market. SD-WAN can help CSPs provide highly flexible and cost-effective management services to meet the diverse needs of users. One of the key services provided by CSPs is hybrid WAN, which allows MPLS users to add services that manage Internet bandwidth to their branch networks, and Internet links will handle critical traffic between the data center and the cloud (that is, popular SaaS applications).
CSPs provides users with managed and secure hybrid WAN services, which is a core interest of organizations that want to outsource complex WAN management to business partners. The reliability and security of the CSPs market are guaranteed by SD-WAN technology. Some leading CSPs have begun to adopt SD-WAN solutions (such as Verizon and SingTel), and more companies are studying this technology.
CSPs can introduce SD-WAN technology to reduce the risk of introducing new technologies, so as to achieve the migration to hybrid WAN, and provide professional support and services. By using SD-WAN to provide new and valuable services to users, CSPs can avoid non-intermediary management service services and increase the use of Internet circuit services.
Thank you for your reading. I believe you have some understanding of why communication service providers need to achieve SD-WAN. Go to practice quickly. If you want to know more about it, you can follow the website! The editor will continue to bring you better articles!
