The Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) mandates that by November 2018, each drug package should carry a serial number or bar code, at which time each drug package will be assigned a unique product identifier, equivalent to the drug's "××" number, to verify the authenticity of the product sold.

As drugs circulate through the market supply chain, every transaction is recorded on the blockchain, which generates a distributed traceability ledger. All participants in the supply chain can query the account book, realize real-time tracking of drugs in the whole supply chain cycle, realize that the source of drugs can be checked, the destination can be traced, eliminate the soil for the survival of counterfeit drugs, and protect the life and health of patients.

The blockchain has a decentralized ledger, which is secure, reliable, tamper-proof and transparent, so clinical trial data can be stored on the blockchain and verified publicly by interested parties, which prevents clinical trial data from being tampered with, thus improving the reliability of clinical trial results.
