GlusterFS Release Schedule

Major versions (major versions) are released every 4 months and minor versions (minor versions) are released every month.

Gluster releases are divided into major and minor releases. Major releases usually contain new features (in addition to bug fixes), and minor releases are intended to improve the stability of the major release, providing bug feedback and fixes.

Major releases are released every 4 months, and minor releases receive bug feedback and fixes for the next 12 months, after which they are no longer maintained (called EOL releases). It is strongly recommended that users stay with a major release that is still under maintenance so that they can get bug fixes of interest.

supplementary note

Major version: usually refers to a large version, maintenance cycle in more than 1 year. The maintenance time of 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7 is 2 years, including the versions before 3.4. The maintenance cycle is shortened from 3.8 to 1 year, including 3.8, 3.12, 4.1, 5 and 6.

Minor version: Usually refers to a minor version, but also a maintenance update version, mainly bug fixes, such as 3.12.15, 4.0.2, 4.1.3, 5.0, 5.1.

STM short-term maintenance version: not recommended, official support time is 3 months, the official is no longer available STM version, the old STM version includes 3.9, 3.11, 3.13, 4.0.

Also note: obviously, starting with version 5, minor releases changed from the original A.B.x to C.x, and starting with version 4.1, the community abandoned STM versions, as with versions prior to 3.8, all releasing so-called LTM versions, with support cycles changing from 2 years prior to 3.7 to the latest 1 year.
