Open the debug port and start tomcat

Take tomcat7.0.75 as an example. Open the catalina.bat file in the bin directory. As shown in the following figure, you can see that the default debug port is 8000. If the local 8000 is already occupied, change it to an unoccupied port number:

Remotely connect tomcat in Intellij idea

Now that a web project (preferably a maven project) has been opened in Intellij idea and deployed to tomcat, click the "run" button in the red box below, and click "Edit Configurations..." in the drop-down menu:

Click "+" in the pop-up menu and then click "Remote":

As shown in the following figure, change the number in the red box to "8000". As for the number in the blue box, it will change automatically with the change in the red box. If tomcat is deployed on other machines, enter the ip of the machine where tomcat belongs in the Host input box on the left side of the red box:

After setting up, click "ok" below, return to the main window, click the drop-down menu in the red box below, select the debug configuration item we just created, and then click the bug button in the blue circle to connect to the debug port of tomcat:
