There is a new style builder dialog box (form) in Visual Studio 2008. Use this dialog box to generate a style, or you can preview it at the same time. You can navigate a creation style to the current page or to an existing external style sheet or to a new external style sheet. You can create ID-based, element-based, embedded, class-based styles. Styles have integrated selectors.

Open the New style dialog box from the menu: format + New style, or you can open it through the manage Styles and apply Styles tool windows.

The dialog box is shown in the following figure:

About the options in the dialog box:

◆ definition location: you can define new styles to create on the current page, existing style sheets, new style sheets.

◆ selector: you can enter it yourself or select it from the drop-down box, such as using the cascading selector, or selecting the cascading style from the drop-down box.

◆ applies the new style to the document selection: check this option and the new style will apply the document selection.

◆ categories: when you click on each category, the relevant properties will open on the right. Any category with properties set is displayed in bold. As shown in the figure above, both Font,Background and Border categories are shown in bold because some of their properties have been set.

◆ URL: this option needs to be set only if you select "existing stylesheet" in "definition location" and should indicate the path to the css file.

Now if you want to create a style for a button control, all you can do is select the button in the design, open the New style dialog box, set the properties you need, preview, and click the apply button.

The style builder is very useful for novice css styles, using it to complete regular css style coding in Asp.net. Of course, if you want to achieve very library effects, such as "rounded corners", you may need more knowledge of css.
