Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--

According to our sources, Intel's next-generation Rocket Lake-S desktop CPU will be compatible with the upcoming Z490 series motherboard. But that's not all. When Rocket Lake-S CPU arrives on the Z490 platform, a series of features will be added, which will bring Intel's platform on a par with AMD's AM4 platform.

Intel 11th generation Rocket Lake-S desktop CPU is compatible with Z490 LGA 1200 motherboard, and its 3354 platform is equivalent to AMD's AM4.

First, it has been confirmed that the Z490 motherboard will support Intel's tenth generation desktop CPU and future processors.

Intel's 11th generation Rocket Lake-S desktop CPU product lineup has been confirmed many times in various leaks, but as the Z490 platform release draws to a close, we will get more information about the upcoming product line. We don't know what the future processor will mean, but there is no doubt that our sources are talking about Rocket Lake-S.

This is interesting because it confirms that Intel will allow its next-generation processors to be compatible with Z490 chipsets and LGA 1200-socket motherboards. There are two possible ways, either the Z490 is still the exclusive LGA 1200-slot chipset that supports the 2020 CPU series, Comet Lake-S and Rocket Lake-S, or Intel can adopt a similar approach to Coffee Lake. Intel's Coffee Lake and Coffee Lake Refresh series released the Z370 and Z390 motherboards, which use the same LGA 1151 slot, but the chipset provides a better Imax O.

Both CPU series are compatible with Z370 and Z390 motherboards, so if Intel plans to release 500s (Z590) here, users who do not want to use Rocket Lake-S CPU on Z490 motherboards will remain compatible. Upgrade and provide better functionality (input / output mode) in the product lineup based on the new chipset.

Another and most important aspect of the Z490 motherboard is that they will all support 4.0 generations.

Pcie 4.0 is an important function of the X570 motherboard, based on the am4 slot of the AMD sharp dragon CPU. The Z490 motherboard has built-in hardware-level support, such as the third-generation sharp dragon, but the Rocket Lake-S CPU is fully compatible with the PCIe Gen 4.0 standard. In terms of functionality, this will equate Intel with the AMD AM4 platform.

The Z490 motherboard will also have additional PCB layers to enhance its support for pcie gen4.0

We were told that the BIOS for each specific Z490 motherboard will be released by the motherboard manufacturer by the end of 2020 to support Rocket Lake-S and PCIe 4.0. This also confirms previous rumors, suggesting that Rocket Lake-S will be launched at the end of 2020. CPU, so it might end up like this.
