This article introduces the example analysis of XenServer through local hard disk to VM, the content is very detailed, interested friends can refer to it, I hope it can be helpful to you.

In the server virtualization scenario, VMware ESXi can pass the local storage directly to the virtual machine through naked mapping, so is XenServer feasible?

There happen to be two servers on hand, so do an experiment to verify whether it is feasible.

Server configuration:

CPU:E5-2680 v4 2,

RAM:32GB12 、

9 for HDD:2TB SATA and 3 for 480GB SSD

2 NIC:10Gbps network cards and 2 1Gbps network cards; the configuration of the two servers is the same.

The version used by XenServer is XenServer7.1CU2 version, and the specific installation is not listed in the details.

Due to my limited use of XenServer, I took a lot of detours when I hung up the disk. I didn't say much nonsense and went directly to the picture above. In order to make it more convenient to use XenServer next time, the steps will be more elaborate. * * first, hang XenServer on the local disk * *: (there are many online tutorials, which I copy and paste directly here) first use the command to list all disks: * ls-l / dev/disk/by-path/*

Then use the command to add: xe sr-create type=lvm content-type=user device-config:device=/dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:00:10.0-scsi-0:0:1:0 name-label= "SSD"

Where pci-0000:00:10.0-scsi-0:0:1:0 is one of the disks displayed by by-path, and SSD is the name displayed in xencenter.

XenServer local access to the virtual machine (thanks to kris for his help and attach his blog link http://kbssj.com/)

1. Create folder mkdir / srv/ disk device name

two。 Mount local disk xe sr-create host-uuid= "host ID" name-label= "mount name" name-description= "mount name" type=udev content-type=disk device-config:location= "/ ln link created by srv/"

3. Create a soft link ln-s / dev/sda / srv/ disk device name / sda

4.XenCenter manually scans storage

5. Manually assign disks to virtual machines

Uninstall of XenServer Stora

1. View the storage uuid2. Access XenServer through ssh and enter xe pbd-unplug uuid= "Storage uuid" 3. Then disconnect the UUID4 of xe pbd-unplug uuid=PBD. Then delete the UUID of sr xe sr-forget uuid=SR

This is the end of the example analysis on the use of XenServer through local hard disk to VM. I hope the above content can be helpful to you and learn more knowledge. If you think the article is good, you can share it for more people to see.
