In 2019, TDSQL technology continued to make breakthroughs and gained a lot of trust and recognition from the industry. The localization of database is getting deeper and deeper.

The database market in the financial industry, especially the core trading systems of banks, has always been dominated by traditional commercial databases such as Oracle and DB2, but:

In 2014, WeBank, the first Internet bank in China, chose Tencent Cloud TDSQL as the database solution for its core trading system.

In 2019, Zhangjiagang Agricultural and Commercial Bank chose TDSQL as the database solution of its traditional bank core system, which was the first time that the traditional bank core system adopted domestic distributed database.

Also in 2019, several provincial and ministerial-level government agencies and a national joint-stock bank have also reached cooperation with Tencent Cloud financial-level distributed database TDSQL.

Gain a lot of trust from customers in the industry, which has to be said to be a highlight moment of TDSQL, but also for us to continue to promote the localization of the database in the future has brought greater confidence and new opportunities for industry-research cooperation and innovation.

The year-end settlement efficiency of customer core system is 70%!

December 31 every year is the year-end settlement day of financial institutions, year-end settlement is a huge project, that is, the banking system needs to sort out all the data of the year, the general accounts of the outlets are sorted out, and every penny cannot go wrong. They are interlinked and progressive, affecting the whole body at the same time. Bankers have a busy sleepless night on this day every year.

With the continuous innovation and development of financial technology, the bank's annual exam has also ushered in changes.

This year, Zhangjiagang Bank's new core system based on distributed database TDSQL has greatly improved the efficiency of the core year-end. It is reported that on December 31, 2019, Zhangjiagang Bank launched the year-end on time, which was divided into three steps: the core day-end step, the accounting step, and the core year-end step, which took 20 minutes, 13 minutes, and 2 minutes respectively. The total time spent on the core year-end was reduced to 35 minutes compared with the original centralized two hours, and the efficiency was improved by 70%. This is the first time that the domestic distributed database has been implemented in the traditional core system of the bank.

The huge amount of year-end projects is not only a test for bankers, but also a key test for IT technology systems such as databases responsible for calculating and storing data, including the need to strictly ensure data consistency, accuracy and efficient completion in the process of year-end. As the most complex database operation in the banking system, TDSQL successfully and efficiently completed the year-end task, which is also another milestone in the localization of bank database!

Accumulated over the years into today's basic innovation

In the field of basic research, TDSQL continues to precipitate, theoretical precipitation of years of research and development achievements, and achieve continuous breakthroughs in basic technology.

In May 2019, the TDSQL team deeply shared the global read consistency algorithm first proposed, promoting the exchange and development of core technologies in distributed databases. This time, based on the core technology of database transaction processing, the concurrent access control technology and the consistency in the distributed system CAP theory, TDSQL creatively puts forward an algorithm to solve the read consistency comprehensively, which unifies the consistency of distributed transactions and the consistency of distributed systems.

VLDB scene

In August 2019, the results of the latest joint research of Tencent distributed database TDSQL and Renmin University of China were received by VLDB 2019 and will be published in long text form. TDSQL full-temporal database system can provide lightweight full-temporal data management function and transaction processing ability of full-temporal data on the premise of ensuring OLTP performance, as well as a cluster architecture that integrates current state data into production system and historical state data into analytical system, forming a complete solution for full-temporal data. This is another time for Tencent TDSQL to enter the realm of TDSQL after it was hired by VLDB last year for its thesis on similarity calculation of VLDB.

In October 2019, Li Haixiang, an expert in Tencent Cloud database technology, an expert engineer in the financial-level distributed database TDSQL team, and an enterprise tutor for the Master of Engineering, School of Information, Renmin University of China, was elected as a member of the Database Select Committee of the Chinese computer Society (CCF).

The continuous investment and innovation of basic technological research is the basis for us to break through the boundary. Industry-university-research-application cooperative innovation is one of the areas that we will invest in for a long time.

More open to promote the ecological improvement of domestic databases

This year, TDSQL shared the in-depth practice details of a number of key technologies to promote technology exchanges in the industry and improve the database technology ecology.

For example, TDSQL began to provide database multi-source synchronous migration service (TDSQL-MULTISRCSYNC) many years ago, which can achieve two-way synchronization of heterogeneous databases, support enterprises to migrate efficiently and steadily from traditional centralized databases to new generation distributed databases, and greatly reduce the threshold for traditional database migration and transformation.

TDSQL is open and standard, but also decoupled. Based on the two-way synchronization capability of heterogeneous databases provided by TDSQL, customers can also choose their own technical route.

In addition, it also includes TDSQL's DBA-oriented technical ecological service based on years of precipitation-- intelligent operation and maintenance system "Bian Que", which fills the gap in user ecological technology. Bian Que system is a product launched by TDSQL for the cloud market to automate the analysis of database performance / failures and provide users with optimization / solutions.

Perfect technical ecological services can solve the pain points of users in many aspects. TDSQL strives to build an open ecology, advocates healthy competition, and has been promoting the development of database technology and applications with an open mind.

Self-controlled industrialization, localization and adaptation are carried out with all their strength.

In 2019, TDSQL realized the ecological support results of a number of domestic infrastructure software facilities, including supporting the adaptation of all domestic operating systems and domestic chips, a full range of domestic servers, etc., and vigorously promoted the improvement of the independent and controllable industrial ecology of domestic databases.

While completing the adaptation work, Tencent also provides corresponding technical services to help industry users better migrate to the domestic basic technology ecology.
