Bian Xiao found that many friends were interested in the information that the owner of Lenovo C340-11 Chromebook disconnected due to the error of Chromebook 80. Bian Xiao compiled some relevant information and shared it with everyone here.

I've been using and enjoying my Lenovo Chromebook C340-11 since it hit the market last fall, but when the Chromebook C340-11 hit the market earlier this month, I started noticing something strange. My steady, reliable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi started disconnecting from Chromebooks at will, but I couldn't see the 5GHz network at all.

I'm not the only one with the problem: this is a Wi-Fi bug found in Chrome OS 80, which seems to be limited to Lenovo C340-11, and this bug has been fixed in Chrome OS 81. The only solution is to track Chrome OS 79 builds to flashback your Chromebook(erase all local data and apps) or disconnect Ethernet cables and USB hubs for use. Now we also know that Chrome OS 81 is scheduled to be released to stable channels on April 7.

So if you encounter this problem, please refer to the following current solutions:

Switch to Test Channel-Upgrade to Test Channel without losing any data. I can confirm that the issue has been resolved after switching to Beta on my own C340-11. That is, whenever I inevitably need to return to steady state, then I must use Powerwash to restore steady state.

Ethernet Week-Stable updates can only be done in a week, so if you can use Ethernet over the next few days to bypass unreliable connections, you can avoid interfering with your Chrome OS channel or Powerwashing.

Last week, Chrome revised its development timeline, eliminating Chrome OS 82 and focusing instead on security and stability, as the Chrome development team and most of the people who use Chrome OS work from home and rely more on laptops than ever before. There's no better time to spot such a high-impact bug than now, but I'm happy to find it. It can be repaired immediately, and stable repair solutions can be found from the public in just a few days.
