Experiment tools: GNS3, VMware, two virtual machines installed with win10 system

Introduction to GNS3

GNS3 is a graphical interface that can run on multiple platforms (including Windows, Linux, and MacOS). Cisco network equipment administrators or those interested in passing Cisco certification exams such as CCNA,CCNP,CCIE, etc. can use it to complete relevant lab simulations. It can also be used to virtually experience the Cisco Internet Operating System IOS or to verify relevant configurations to be deployed on real routers.

GNS3 Environmental Deployment

1 gns installation

Install GNS3, follow the installation wizard

The two plug-ins in the figure below are unchecked because of the complexity of installation

Select Do Not Start and install a plugin that was not checked before

Follow the installation wizard to install Wireshark

installation is complete

2 Environmental deployment

Open GNS3

Install route mirroring

Direct next step, configuration does not move, click Done

Select the router icon and drag it to the action bar

Select change symbol to switch icon

Start switch, configure dile-pc, optimize cpu

According to the prompt, the value with asterisk is preferred. If not, select the lower value or recalculate.

Install SecureCRT

Install according to the installation wizard

Run crack patches as administrator

Complete installation according to identification input

Environmental deployment complete

Use the vpc connection switch with GNS3 to interconnect

Drag a router and two VPCs

After changing the router ID, configure a Layer 2 board for it.

Connect the vpc to the switch

Port 0 is router, port 1 is switch, select port 1

After startup, double-click the switch to enter global mode, turn off routing function, and only retain switch function

setting is successful

Configure ip addresses of pc1 and pc2

PC1 is set to 192.168.10.10

PC2 self-set to 192.168.10.5

setup is complete

PC1ping PC2 is connected

Test complete, connected

Switch Interconnection in GNS3 with VMware Link

Set the NIC mode of two win10 virtual machines to host-only mode, vmnet1 and vmnet2 respectively.

Drag a switch and two hosts in GNS3

Configure Layer 2 Boards for Switches

Configure two virtual machines ip and turn off firewall

Start packet capture and ping one virtual machine to another
