You can share files and folders with others on the network. You can share your entire Mac with everyone, or allow specific users to access only part of the folder.
Set file sharing on Mac, select Apple > system preferences, and then click share. Select the File sharing check box. To select a specific folder to share, click the add button at the bottom of the shared folder list, find and select the folder, and then click add. The Public folder of each user who has an account on your Mac is automatically shared. To unshare a folder, select the folder in the shared folder list and click the remove button. Hold down the Control key and click the name of the folder, choose Advanced options, select the options you want, and then click OK. By default, any user set in the users and groups preferences on Mac can connect to your Mac over the network. Users with an administrator account can access the entire Mac. To give only specific users or groups access to folders, select a folder in the shared folders list, click the add button + at the bottom of the users list, and then do one of the following: add users or groups from all users in Mac: select users and groups in the list on the left, select one or more names in the list on the right, and then click Select. Add users or groups from anyone on the network: select Network users or Network groups in the list on the left, select one or more names in the list on the right, and then click Select. Add contacts from your address book and create share-only accounts for them: select address Book in the list on the left, select the name in the list on the right, click Select, create a password, and then click create account. To specify access for a user, select the user in the users list, click the triangle next to the user name, and then choose one of the following options: read and write: users can view and copy files in the folder. Read-only: users can view the contents of the folder, but cannot copy files to it. Write only (drop box): users can copy files to a folder, but cannot view their contents. No access: users cannot view or copy files in a folder. Set advanced file sharing options
Use advanced file sharing options to set protocols and other options for each shared file.
On Mac, select Apple > system preferences, click share, and then select File sharing. Hold down the Control key and click the name of the shared folder, and then choose Advanced options. Click the "sharing approach" pop-up menu, and then choose a file sharing protocol: SMB: share folders through SMB. AFP: share folders through AFP. SMB and AFP: share folders through SMB and AFP. [note] shared folders on APFS volumes can only be shared through SMB. Select advanced options: allow guest users. Only SMB encrypted connections are allowed. The share is the destination of the time machine backup. Click "Yes".
Guests can access shared folders on the Mac. To turn off guest access, deselect allow guests to connect to shared folders in the Guest accounts panel of the user and Group preferences.
