Export Mirror

Exporting ECS custom images is suitable for local testing or private cloud environment scenarios.

Description

Exporting custom images is a relatively time-consuming task that requires you to wait patiently. The time to complete depends on the size of the custom image file and the number of concurrency of the current export task.

Exporting custom images requires the use of object storage OSS, so it will incur traffic fees for OSS storage and download. For more details, please refer to OSS Metering and Billing items.

Restriction condition

You need to pay attention to the following restrictions:

It is not supported to export custom images created by system disk snapshots of Cloud Marketplace images.

The exported custom image can contain snapshots of data disks, but the data disks cannot exceed 4, and the maximum capacity of a single data disk cannot exceed 500 GiB.

When purchasing instances with the same configuration using the exported full image, you need to confirm that the file devices recorded in / etc/fstab correspond to the snapshot information of the exported data disk.

prerequisite

Before exporting the custom image, you should have done the following:

Submit a ticket to apply for export permission, and describe the usage scenarios for exporting custom images.

Make sure that you have activated the OSS service and that there is an OSS Bucket available in the region where the custom image resides. For more details, see OSS creating storage space.

Operation steps

The steps to export a custom image on the administrative console are as follows:

Log in to the ECS Management console.

In the left navigation bar, select Snapshot and Mirror > Mirror.

Select the region.

"locate the custom image that you want to export, and in the actions column, click Export Image."

In the Export Mirror dialog box, click the confirmation address in step 3 of the prompt.

In the Cloud Resource access Authorization window, click agree to authorize the ECS service to access your OSS resources.

"back to the home page of the ECS Management console, in the actions column of the Custom Image list page, click Export Mirror again."

In the Export Mirror dialog box:

Select the OSS Bucket of the region where the custom image resides.

Set a forward dropout for the Object name of the custom image. For example, if you can set Demo to drop out, the name of the exported custom image file in OSS Bucket is Demo- [system-generated file name].

Click OK to start exporting custom images.

(optional) Unexport the custom mirror task. Before the task is completed, you can find the task of exporting custom images in the appropriate region through task management, and cancel the export of custom images.

You can also export custom images using ECS API ExportImage and CancelTask.

Description

When an exported custom image contains a snapshot of a data disk, multiple files appear in your OSS. The file name with system represents the system disk snapshot, and the file name with data represents the data disk snapshot. The data disk snapshot has the identity corresponding to the data disk, that is, the mount point of the disk, such as xvdb or xvdc.

After the custom image is successfully exported, obtain the file access address and download the custom image file. The format of the image file is RAW by default.
