Why is TLC flash memory so popular?

But TLC also has its own advantages, TLC storage capacity is larger, the cost is much lower than MLC, SLC.

But QLC flash memory is coming to replace TLC?
In the flash memory chip, in addition to the familiar SLC, MLC,TLC, there is also a kind of flash memory chip called QLC.
QLC = Quad-Level Cell, we know that TLC flash memory stores 3-bit charge per Cell cell, there are 8 conditions, QLC flash memory stores 4-bit charge, there are 16 conditions. This means that the unit storage density of QLC flash memory is twice that of TLC, and a single chip can reach 256GB or even 512GB. However, because of this, the voltage of QLC flash memory is more difficult to control, the write speed is lower, and its reliability, stability and life are worse than TLC. At present, QLC flash memory is in the stage of development, and it will take some time for it to be used on SSD.
Why do manufacturers still want to develop QLC that is worse than TLC?
Now the data of games, movies, photos, impressions and so on are getting bigger and bigger. Think about it, a few gigabytes, dozens of gigabytes of games, often dozens of gigabytes of Blu-ray movies, with the advent of the VR era, your storage disk will face big data's unprecedented challenge. 120g, 240g, or even 480g SSD capacity is far from enough. TLC can deal with the bottleneck of SSD capacity, but not the price of SSD. High-capacity SSD is still expensive. Although QLC is worse than TLC in terms of speed, life and stability, its advantages of cheaper cost and larger capacity can not be ignored. Just like when TLC was never widely accepted, isn't that the main reason?
