I. installation

1. Download live cd or img files from the official website for writing and installation

This article downloads pfSense-2.0.3-RELEASE-4g-i386-nanobsd_vga-upgrade.img.gz for hard disk writing and installation

Download http://m0n0.ch/wall/physdiskwrite.php from the write tool under windows

Use ordinary PC with at least two network cards

2. Connect the hard disk that needs to install pfsense to the computer, decompress the downloaded writing tool, and put the img.gz file of pfsense into the decompressed directory.

Start-- > run-- > CMD

Cd to the decompression directory

Run the writer

C:\ > physdiskwrite.exe-u pfSense-2.0.3-RELEASE-4g-i386-nanobsd_vga-upgrade.img.gz

Select the hard disk to be written after the enter is determined.

Be sure to choose the right hard drive, otherwise the data is gone. Enter after the selection, and then you can write it. After waiting for the writing to be completed, you can install it on the computer and use it.

3. Startup settings

After boot, you can see that there are three network cards, labeled em0, em1, em2.

This step prompts whether VLAN needs to be enabled (the network card needs to support 802.1Q protocol). It is not enabled by default. Type n

Select the network card you need as the WAN port, and choose em0 here

Select the network card you need as the LAN port, and choose em1 here

Select the network card you need as the additional interface 1 (OPT1), and choose em2 here

Select the network card you need as additional interface 2 (OPT2). As all the network cards have been assigned, enter directly and skip.

To confirm whether you want to save it into effect, type y

When you come to this interface, it shows that the installation has been successful.

You can type 2 to set LAN port IP

After setting, open http://192.168.1.1 under the browser to set other parameters.
