Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--
Recently, JPMorgan Chase conducted a survey of 154large corporate CIO, and the results show that many corporate CIO do not like Oracle very much. And that's not the strongest news. JPMorgan Chase changed its rating on Oracle shares from overweight to neutral and said companies are becoming less dependent on Oracle as they move to the cloud.
Microsoft, on the other hand, is highly regarded as the "most complete supplier" in CIO. Microsoft Azure has become the second choice of enterprise cloud computing, of course, the first choice is AWS, after all, the status of AWS can not be easily shaken.
Oracle has no friends.
As we all know, Oracle has few friends in the field of enterprise IT, but Oracle, as a database hegemon, doesn't seem to need any friends either. The strong adhesion of database makes Oracle come to the fore in the field of application and middleware.
"the greatest power of database management systems is inertia," said Merv Adrian, an analyst at Gartner. "when Oracle databases successfully occupy C-bit in complex network centers with applications, middleware and infrastructure, it is not so easy to replace."
However, Oracle's market share has been declining every year since 2013, due to the cloud and open source databases, according to Gartner.
The initial adoption of the cloud by most enterprises is driven by developers, but with the continuous development of cloud computing, CIO is also impressed with cloud computing, and they gradually find that when they move the workload of the database to the public cloud, the services provided by large cloud providers can be comparable to Oracle.
Microsoft is the most popular.
According to JPMorgan Chase, only 2% of CIO think Oracle is the "most complete supplier," while Microsoft topped the list with 27% of the vote. In addition, AWS received 12% CIO support.
The findings of this report are undoubtedly good news for AWS, but the real winner should be Microsoft. In Gartner's newly released IaaS Magic Quadrant, AWS remains dominant as always, but Microsoft Azure is catching up.
Mark Murphy, an analyst at JPMorgan Chase, said: in our recent CIO survey, Oracle's spending intentions do not look high, and if you take a closer look at Oracle, you will see that Oracle is reducing capital support. In our survey, many CIO said they were migrating from Oracle databases to Microsoft SQL Server, Amazon databases, and PostgreSQL.
Of course, AWS is still the leading cloud computing provider, but given Microsoft's historical advantages and close ties with CIO, it is believed that there will be plenty of stories about CIO choosing to migrate workloads from Oracle to Microsoft. Of course, Microsoft is not the biggest beneficiary of this story, and AWS is the biggest beneficiary in terms of AWS database migration and revenue growth.
As for whether Microsoft Azure can successfully counterattack AWS? It may be difficult to achieve in a short time, but according to the current development momentum of Microsoft Azure and the support of CIO, as long as enough time is given, surpassing is not completely impossible.
